COVID-19 Safeguarding Arrangements

During this difficult time partners across the Sheffield Adult Safeguarding Partnership are working to their contingency plans to ensure that resources are focused on the most vulnerable. The Partnership urges everyone to follow the appropriate local and national guidance. Please remember that individual, professional and agency responsibilities to protect those at risk still continue, and we should all be acting with their best interests uppermost. It is important that everyone remembers that safeguarding can only be effective where there are strong and open links between individual practitioners and agencies, and that good and prompt communication, and the sharing of relevant information, will help ensure that people remain safe, especially at this time.

All of our face to face safeguarding adult training has now been cancelled until further notice.

If it is an emergency and you think that an adult may be in immediate danger please contact the emergency services directly by calling 999.
If you need to contact the Sheffield First Contact to make a safeguarding referral about an adult at risk of abuse or neglect, please telephone 0114 2734908.

Safeguarding information for volunteers

Waltham Forest Council has produced a short video for volunteers who are working anywhere to support their local residents. The video is to raise awareness with volunteers of safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults, and tell them what to do if they see something that does not feel right. The message is: if you see something, say something.

Many self-isolating over 70’s may be further impacted by their deteriorating hearing and sight. Here are a series of guides and a COVID-19 information from the Centre for Independent Living, advice and resources web page to help everyone understand what some of the issues might be and some potential solutions when needing to communicate with this group of vulnerable people in the community.

Learning difficulties or Autism materials to help understand Coronavirus

People with a learning disability or autism may have more difficulty understanding the changes to their life and community. These You tube videos help to explain why there are so many changes to ordinary life, and that the changes are temporary. The changes may include why people are not visiting, why support staff might be wearing masks, gloves and aprons, and why people cannot go out to the usual places.
