South Yorkshire Police Counter Corruption Unit ‘ Abuse of position for a sexual/ emotional purpose’

You will no doubt have seen the highly emotive articles in the national media detailing the despicable acts committed by the likes of former PC Wayne Couzens and former PC David Carrick from the Metropolitan Police.

Individuals such as these and others reported in the media should never have been allowed to call themselves police officers, they undermine the hard work that dedicated and selfless officers do on a daily basis.

As advocates for integrity and transparency, we believe in the power of collective action and joint working to address this pressing issue.

Detective Constable Joanne Turner, South Yorkshire Police will be delivering a session which will look at the following and discuss a case from South Yorkshire.

  • To explain the role of the CCU
  • Understand the type of referrals this specialised unit investigate.
  • Spot the signs of a potentially corrupt police employee.
  • Identify potential victims at risk.
  • Understand that these investigations come under the LADO and PIPoT remit.
  • Emphasize how joint working is vital to success.
